Thank you camp for Mpindo! We can do more...
We recently had the honour to host Mpindo Primary School grade 6 kids and Ngqabutho Moyo from Mpindo village. This is the community where the Mpindo pack had denned earlier this year before we brought it to our Rehabilitation Facility.
Moyo, on the other had, is the community member who discovered and defended the den from angry villagers until our executive director Peter Blinston and team came to relocate the dogs and their pups that were barely 3 weeks old.
The school and heroic Moyo came for a short 2-day thank you camp at the Iganyana Children’s Bush Camp.
You can tell with the smiles on their faces (below), they are excited to be coming to visit PDC, experience the bush camp and see the painted dogs they helped save. It’s nothing that will easily fade away from their minds. They will share and encourage others to have a positive attitude towards wildlife. Therefore creating an environment where painted dogs and other wildlife can not only survive but thrive.
This school, however, is not part of the 19 local schools that come every year to our Children’s Bush Camp. But after their community’s tolerance when painted dogs had devoured their livestock, it is our wish to include this school to be the 20th in our list so as to encourage them to continue the positive behaviour.
